"...Australia also seems much less obviously a part of the Pacific than New Zealand, in terms of the relative absence of soul and dub influences in a lot of acts, and in terms of what you'll hear in the average bar when you're going out," Upton continues. "Having said that, I do enjoy the place. I'm making the most of the positives, being able to see some exciting local acts and a bunch of interesting internationals who'd never bother to go to New Zealand..."
