Capitalrecordings is delighted to announce the release of our latest long-player, the self-titled debut from Wellington producer Agent Alvin (CREC1019).

Known as Warren Field to his mum, he began producing in 1999 under the tutelage of a friend, eventually adopting the name Agent Alvin in 2000 (a play on his middle name) when he brought a computer. He’s been musically inclined since an early age though: ”It’s always been in my family, so I just moved with the technology – started on piano, moved to guitar, ended up on a computer. I enjoy the challenge of being like a conductor – selecting my instruments and instructing them what to play and when.”

Agent Alvin wrote most of the album on his own, but co-wrote several of the tracks with vocalists, including “On The Rise” with London-based MC Spikey Tee (who also did the vocals) as well as “Saboteur” with Ruth Carr from Minuit, and others with MC Kyla from GnD and Meg Martin.

Citing musical influences ranging from hip-hop to classical, Warren also notes the effect of seeing New Zealand drum & bass acts like Concord Dawn and Bulletproof and their success overseas while maintaining base in New Zealand. He currently has vinyl releases forthcoming on Breakbeat Science (New York), Industry Recordings (UK), Fix Recordings (UK) and Incite Recordings (New York) with “more on the horizon…”, including a three-track 12” of tracks from this album with Capitalrecordings (CREV1209).
