Capitalrecordings is delighted to announce the release of our latest 12” vinyl release, the three-track EP (CREV1209) from Wellington-based producer/DJ Agent Alvin. All three tracks are taken from his self-titled debut album (CREC1029).

Known as Warren Field to his mum, he began producing in 1999 under the tutelage of a friend, eventually adopting the name Agent Alvin in 2000 (a play on his middle name) when he brought a computer. He’s been musically inclined since an early age though: ”It’s always been in my family, so I just moved with the technology – started on piano, moved to guitar, ended up on a computer. I enjoy the challenge of being like a conductor – selecting my instruments and instructing them what to play and when.”

Citing musical influences ranging from hip-hop to classical, Warren also notes the effect of seeing New Zealand drum & bass acts like Concord Dawn and Bulletproof and their success overseas while maintaining base in New Zealand. He currently has vinyl releases forthcoming on Breakbeat Science (New York), Industry Recordings (UK), Fix Recordings (UK) and Incite Recordings (New York) with “more on the horizon…”.

Agent Alvin’s wrote most of his album on his own, but he co-wrote several of the tracks with vocalists, including “Smut” with MC Kyla and “Saboteur” with Ruth Carr from Minuit from this 12”, and “On The Rise” with London-based MC Spikey Tee (who also did the vocals) from the album.
