Capitalrecordings are pleased as fuck to announce the release of the much-anticipated debut mini-LP cum EP from Auckland-based three-piece Die! Die! Die! (CREC1217).
Die! Die! Die! have solidified their reputation as one of New Zealand's best new bands in the space of one short year. With an emphasis on rhythm and volume, Die! Die! Die! create a driving sound that is immediate and visceral, while retaining enough melody to keep their songs in your head long after their short set has come to a close.
Formed in November 2003, Die! Die! Die! quickly bought a van and started playing as many shows in as many towns as they could. After two tours of New Zealand, Die! Die! Die! supported legendary UK punk band Wire at their only New Zealand show. After a brief break-up, they secured the current line-up of Andrew Wilson on guitar and vocals, Michael Prain on drums and Henry Oliver on bass guitar, and embarked on a third national tour.
With five Tours of New Zealand and three of Australia (including both Homebake and Meredith festivals, and a support slot for Franz Ferdinand) under their belt, Die! Die! Die! leave New Zealand in March for an extensive tour of the USA - where they will record their debut album with Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, Shellac) at his studio Electrical Audio in Chicago C before heading to the UK, Sweden, and wherever else they can find shows. "We formed the band to travel and to play lots of shows," says singer/guitarist Andrew Wilson, "that's just what we always thought good bands do."
"A spastic, jagged melody, composed of equal parts gut-galloping chops and performative dynamics with the added bonus of songs"
"Unrelenting, and uncompromising. Die!Die!Die! will hypnotise you with heaviness and convert you with their catchiness."
"Die!Die!Die! are the most exciting live band in New Zealand!"
- A LOW HUM (The NZ independent Music Press)
"If you are able to be suspended mid-air in the middle of a fireworks display - it'd be like watching Die!Die!Die! - loud, exciting, kinetic, and probably a little un-safe."
- Cheeseontoast.co.nz (The Auckland Live Music Zine)
"The most danceable car-crash you're ever likely to come across."
