This four-track 12” vinyl EP is the net result of several years’ worth of planning, recordings, mixing and negotiating. Indeed, the fact that this EP ever got recorded or released is a feat in itself when you consider the band’s members comprises six of the busiest men in NZ music today, at least two of whom seem to be overseas at any one time as well. Barnaby Weir aka Flash Harry (The Black Seeds), Tim Jarray aka Ray Ray (The Smart Dogs), Bret McKenzie aka The Video Kid (The Black Seeds, Flight of the Concords), Toby Laing aka Tonie Naironi, (Fat Freddy’s Drop), Lee Prebble aka Dr Lee (The Black Seeds) and Mike Upton aka Jet Jaguar (Datsun Stereo) were all in the one place in late 2000 when these tracks were recorded thankfully. Feel the girth of a rock-solid dub bass line when it comes of vinyl, this is the real deal Welli roots feel.
