"Twinset (then known as 'The SpiderMen') hooked up at the start of their second year at the then Wellington Polytechnic Conservatorium of Music in 1996. Their first gig was at a warehouse party along with various Goth bands who splattered themselves in blood – needless to say, they were in suits & ties. “We played all the tunes we knew, and then we played them again.”
Towards the end of their second year, they encountered Andre at Tatou and began the start of what was to become a legendary residency at this late nite joint. Shortly after, the boys began their longstanding Wednesday night residency at The Matterhorn (currently under rebuilding hiatus) under a variety of names: Los Tigres Del Norte, Moose Head etc. It was Leon Matterhorn who had the honour of eventually naming them Twinset.
The album “It’s A Summer Feeling” was recorded over two days in July 2002 at Cable Street Studio by Lee Prebble and Bret McKenzie, and mastered by Mu at The Beach.
Paul K. Hoskin (drumset). Conceptually, he's all about 'taking care of business', it's the feeling, the swing, the cut, that matter.
Dan Yeabsley (alto saxophone, triangle, tambourine, shaker). Once the 'tone' of the saxophone is dealt to (and boy is it!) Daniel's goal is clarity of idea and emotion, anchored to a swingin' pulse.
Christopher Yeabsley (organ) Christopher's sound can be characterized as 'Heavy soul'. As he works the bass pedals and dual manuals, his mind is on the width of beat.

“This album is interesting (to us anyhow) in how the Wellington roots influence comes out. There we are laying down the funky shit, and upon listening to the playback, it becomes apparent that a significant portion of the tunes are reggae-Twinset style. I and I cannot deny the influence of the BlackSeeds, Mike Fabulous and Trinity Roots.”
